  • The image of disabled persons in television

    In connection with the first anniversary of the adoption of U.N. conventions on the rights of the disabled in Poland and numerous appeals for the promotion of a positive image of such persons in the media, the National Broadcasting Council issued a request to television broadcasters for information on methods of meeting the above demands in programming offered on digital terrestrial television.
  • Poland in the top twenty

    Once again, Poland has improved its place in a world ranking of freedom of the press. In 2014 it was ranked 19th out of 180 countries, while in 2013 it was ranked 22nd and 24th in 2012. The worst ranking was in 2007, with Poland in 56th place. The rankings are published by Reporters Without Borders, an international NGO which promotes and monitors the right to freedom of the media around the world.

    This year for the fourth time the Poznań International Fair and the National Broadcasting Council will organize a conference together, titled “The Future of the Media Market in Poland”. Jan Dworak, the President of the National Broadcasting Council and Andrzej Byrt, the President of the Poznań International Fair signed a letter of intent in this matter on 13 January 2014.
  • Jan Dworak new vice-chair of the ERGA

    On March 4th, during a meeting of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) in Brussels, the President of the National Broadcasting Council Jan Dworak was elected as one of the group’s two vice-chairs. ERGA is a high-level group operating within the structure of the European Commission bringing together all leading regulators of the audiovisual market in the European Union.

    The Amendment to the Broadcasting Act, which was enacted on 28 February 2013 (Journal of Laws of 2012, item 1315), has imposed on providers of on-demand audiovisual media services the obligation to submit a report referred to in Art. 47j of the Act.
