Media Trends Award goes to KRRiT for digitisation process

16.05.2014
The Ministry of Administration and Digitisation, the National Broadcasting Council and the Office of Electronic Communications have received a Media Trends award in the category of Event of the Year on the media market for “the introduction of Poland to the group of countries which have completely switched off their analogue terrestrial signal, thereby providing millions of people with the opportunity to receive the television of tomorrow”.
The jury also appreciated the efficiency and professionalism in the way the process was conducted, as well as the accompanying informational campaign.

The award was received by Michał Boni, Minister of Administration and Digitisation during the years 2011-2013, Małgorzata Szelachowska, Director of the Office of the National Broadcasting Council, and Wiktor Sęga, Director of the Frequency Management Department of the Office of Electronic Communications. The gala ceremony took place on May 7th at the Teatr Polski in Warsaw.

For a significant number of viewers, the appearance of new channels was sufficient reason to depart from their existing habits and to want to familiarize themselves with other offers. It is from this individual decision of the viewer and from this push of the remote control button that one of the greatest revolutions on the market this year began. In homes across the country, the big, well-known stations had to give way to other, smaller, previously-unavailable channels. In the majority of target groups, stations known up to this point as niche altogether exceeded 50% of audience share - read the justification for the award.

The Media Trends Innovation Award competition, organized by the Marketing Communications Association (SAR), is one of the largest events in the marketing and communications industry. For the past 15 years, the Media Trends Award has been given to the most important campaigns and activities making use of innovative solutions in these fields. The competition promotes the most innovative solutions using modern technologies in the area of marketing communications.
